A Return of the King Book Club
Well, we’ve made it to the last book!
Somewhere along the way this little Tolkien experiment turned into one of my favorite things we’ve done here at RA. We’ve had kids making startlingly insightful observations, adults noticing details they somehow missed for twenty years, debates about Boromir, emotional support for facing oversized spiders, grief over trees, and an ongoing appreciation for hobbits insisting on regular meals in the middle of active catastrophe.
So of course we’re going to finish this journey together. Faithful to the end.
This time we begin The Return of the King—a book full of impossible choices, small acts of courage, kings returning, deep weariness, unexpected mercies, and Tolkien somehow making me emotional over things like beacons, seeds, and cast iron.
We’ll continue reading slowly during the week and then meeting Thursdays at 7:30 CST to discuss together.
